Devotio Moderna, or Modern Devotion, was a movement for religious reform begun around the time of the Renaissance. Initially imagined by people like the Christian educator Geert Groote, the movement called for a New Testament-type apostolic renewal of faith through the rediscovery of authentic practices of holiness such as humility, obedience and simplicity of life.
